Lauren Conrad or Lauren Katherine Conrad (born February 1, 1986) often referred to as “L.C.”, is an American television personality, actress, celebutante, and an aspiring fashion designer. She is best known for being featured in the MTV reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and for her spin-off show, The Hills, which follows her personal and professional life as she pursues a career in the fashion industry.
Ah, kids these days. Living in giant houses in LA, driving around in Hummers, spending most of their time at shopping malls with their massive discretionary spending accounts. Hosting award ceremonies, getting paid huge sums to show up at club openings even though they’re too young to touch alcohol. Going on to be fashion designers and DJ’s and models and actors. Getting extorted by their rehab-bound, sex tape toting ex-boyfriends, falling asleep on massive piles of Texas Booger Sugar. Ah, kids these days.
Conrad’s interest in fashion design began at a very young age, when a neighbor taught her to draw and helped her make clothes for her Barbie doll. Isn’t that fucking cute? This passion led her to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Conrad attended for one semester but eventually transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, where she currently majors in product development.
Conrad landed an internship at Teen Vogue while filming season one of The Hills. According to Lisa Love, the West Coast editor of Vogue who evaluated Conrad for the internship position, the reality star had to interview successfully in order to get the job, “regardless of what the cameras wanted.”
Conrad and her reality show appearances have been credited with improving sales of Teen Vogue. It was reported in March 2007 that, since the second season of The Hills began airing in mid-January, newsstand sales for the magazine increased by double digits over 2006 sales.
In April 2007, rumors circulated that former boyfriend, Jason Wahler, was planning to sell a sex tape he allegedly made with Conrad when they were a couple. Wahler, who was in rehab when the rumors began, denied the existence of the tape and blamed the rumors on Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Conrad also denied the existence of any sex tape and posted a message on her official website stating, “Jason and I are both shocked and hurt that people would say such horrible things about us. I can’t believe that somebody would go to such great lengths to try to damage my reputation”. (http://www.chickipedia.com/lauren-conrad/)

She now works for Kelly Cutrone at the People’s Revolution and is the author of the upcoming book L.A. Candy.
Conrad developed a new fashion line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, that debuted at the Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in March 2008.
In March 2009, Conrad announced that she would be taking a hiatus from the fashion line; the spring and summer 2009 lines have been canceled. She earns an estimated $1.5 million annually for her television appearances, fashion line, and product endorsements.
In January 2007, Conrad was named the first official spokesperson of “mark.”, a line created by Avon and marketed toward young women. She will partner with “mark.” and collaborate in both beauty and fashion initiatives. She will be featured in the brand’s magalog (reaching over six million customers every month), and in the “mark.” online community. A line of exclusive co-branded items are part of future plans and will be available on the website and through “mark.” representatives.
As of April 24, 2008, Conrad is also the national spokesperson for College Tonight.
